Qualifications to Be an Apprentice at IOCL:

Matriculation plus completion of a 2-year Industrial Training Authority (ITF) Fitter apprenticeship programme.

The minimum educational requirement for a Trade Apprentice position in the Electrical Trade is a High School Diploma plus completion of a 2-year Industrial Training Institute (ITI) programme in Electrical Trade.

Matriculation plus completion of a two-year Industrial Training Authority (ITA) apprenticeship in electronic mechanics is required for the position of “Trade Apprentice (Electronic Mechanic).

Trade Apprentice (Instrument Mechanic): Secondary School Diploma or GED plus two years of training in an Instrument Technology Institute. Apprentice Machinist positions need a high school diploma and two years of training at an industrial training institute.

For the post of Technician Apprentice (Mechanical), you’ll need a three-year diploma in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 50 percent marks for the general and other-background categories, and 45 percent for the SC, ST, and PwBD categories.

Technician Apprentice (Electrical): Three-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 50 percent marks in the aggregate for General and OBC applicants and 45 percent for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates applying for reserved posts.

Technician Apprentice (Instrumentation): Three-year Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited institution, with at least a 50 percent average for General and OBC applicants and a 45 percent average for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates applying for reserved seats.

For the post of Technician Apprentice (Civil), you’ll need a three-year diploma in civil engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 50 percent of the possible 100 points for General and OBC applicants and 45 percent for SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities.

Qualifications for the position of Technician Apprentice (Electrical & Electronics) include a three-year diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 50 percent in the relevant subjects for General and OBC candidates and 45 percent in the relevant subjects for SC/ST/PwBD candidates for reserved positions.

For the post of Technician Apprentice (Electronics), you’ll need a three-year diploma in Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 50 percent of the possible 100 points for the General and OBC categories and 45 percent for the SC, ST, and PwBD categories.

Apprentice in Trade (Accountant): Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; minimum of 50% overall marks for GEN/OBC; 45% overall marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants applying for reserved posts.

Data Entry Operator (Fresher) Trade Apprenticeship (Minimum High School Diploma Required) (but below Graduate).

Trade Apprenticeships: Data Entry Operator (Experienced Professionals) Required Minimum Educational Attainment: Grade 12 (but below Graduate). Candidates must also have a “Domestic Data Entry Operator” Skill Certificate from an awarding organisation approved by the Central Government or the National Skill Qualifications Framework for less than a year of training. Apprenticeship in Retail Sales (Entry Level): High School Diploma Required (but below Graduate).

Apprenticeship in a Retail Trade (Holders of a Valid Trade Certificate): Adequate Completion of High School or its Equivalent (but below Graduate). Candidates must also have a Retail Trainee Associate Skill Certificate given by an awarding organisation recognised by the Central Government, either via the National Skill Qualifications Framework or another similar programme.

Candidates applying under General/EWS categories must be between the ages of 18 and 24 as of September 30, 2022.Limits on age have been loosened for several protected groups, as shown below:

For members of the SC/ST demographic, the minimum sentence is 5 years.

Three years for OBC/MOBC. 10-year penalty for driving when disabled

Apprentices at IOCL will receive a monthly stipend at the rate set out in the Apprentices Act, 1961, the Apprentices Act, 1973, and the Apprentices Rules of 1992, as such laws and rules may be revised from time to time.

How Do I Apply for the IOCL Apprenticeship Program?

IndianOil (IOCL) is currently accepting applications for apprenticeship positions at its refineries in the cities of Guwahati, Digboi, Bongaigaon (all three located in Assam), Barauni (Bihar), Vadodara (Gujarat), Haldia (West Bengal), Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Panipat “Panipat Refinery & Petrochemical Complex (PRPC)” (Haryana), and Paradip (Odisha). Apprenticeships are available in every area of the Refinery, so interested people may apply to the one that most closely matches their interests.

The application menu (online application portal) will be live on September 24th, 2022, at 10am, and it will include a selectable option for selecting a Refinery unit. The applicant must provide a digital copy of their signature, photograph, and other required paperwork. Online application submissions must be completed by 23 October 2022 at 17.00 hours.
